How To Get Long Lasting Curls

I’ve gotten a lot of questions over the years from people asking my tips or tricks for helping their curls last longer.

Or I’ll get a question like my hair won’t hold curl. What can I do?

So if you are one of those people, or you’re getting ready for an event, you really need to lock in a style from the top, these tips I’m going to share for this tutorial will be a really big help for you.

Some helpful tools you’ll need are duckbill clips. The longer, the better. You can find short ones or long ones. Get the long ones.

A flexible hold hairspray. If you’re in a humid climate, an anti-humidity spray is a really key player too.

One of the most important things you need to do before curling your hair is make sure the section you’re working on is combed through, it’s smooth, it’s flat and it’s small enough to fit on the barrel and lay flat against the barrel of the curling iron.

It may be helpful to spray a little bit of hairspray on the section before you curl as well.

After you drop the curl out of the barrel, go ahead and twist it back up in the same exact shape it was in when it was laying against the curling iron. Slip a duckbill clip in to hold it in place.

The duckbill clips are the real game changer here. They keep that shape of the curl. It allows them to cool and set and it also encourages volume as well.

If you need to do your hair and then leave the duckbill clips in for an hour, because you’re getting ready for an event, the longer you leave them in, the better shape you’ll be in.

All you need to do to remove the clips is slowly slide them out and let the tendrils fall.

You should be able to tell immediately that you’re left with a really bouncy, symmetric curl.

And then you can go through and either brush it out or use your fingers to rake through it.

Your hair should hold curl much longer than if you were to just let the curl fall from the iron.

Those were just a couple tips I wanted to share if your hair doesn’t hold curl well, or you’re fighting humidity or you just want the look of a bouncy curled style.
